Rina Koike for Weekly Young Sunday, 2010.  Normally I try to pick photos where the girls look attractive, but this was just too funny not to post.

Photos like these are the reason I love idol photo books, though. They’re just so adorable and lively. I know the entire scenario is 100% manufactured and nothing about it is at all spontaneous (and thus everything has a slight tinge of creepy), but it’s still just… fun.

This art style is so bleh. The faces are blotchy and the eyes are smashed. Luckily, this is the only episode in Stars where you see it, but it’s in a lot of episodes in the previous 4 seasons.

This guy’s style gets way too much hate. Personally, I think it’s cute. And Sailor Moon is a cute series.
There are some times where his style really doesn’t match the “feel” of the scene/episode, and in that case, I agree - he shouldn’t have directed those StarS episodes, and I have no idea why he was picked to handle Rei’s prophetic vision in S (when everyone is made of stone and they get smashed by the Messiah of Silence).
But really? He’s not that bad. I don’t get why everyone hates on this guy but completely overlooks the one who can’t draw female bodies or 3/4 profile views for shit, or how by the end of Stars the girls have toothpicks for limbs and are wearing approximately 4 pounds each of eyeliner.
Long story short, hating on this guy seems to have become the “cool” thing in the SM community, and it’s getting kind of old.

Ahhh~ With so many of my posts being liked or reblogged today (cause everyone loves Sailor Moon!) I really hope people understand that I love love LOVE all the senshi. And villains. And everything about Sailor Moon. 

When people try to sound cool and only mention anime like Evangelion or any of the Studio Ghibli anime.. I’m totally not ashamed to say just how much I love Sailor Moon. I mean really, it’s the reason I draw at all. It’s the reason I went to art school for animation. It’s the reason I’m comfortable being gay and out about it. 

I got picked on, yeah. I had a sticker of Sailor Moon in my middle school locker that cheered me up even when I had been teased and bullied, I’d look at her and think “She’d want me to stand up and be strong.” She was my only friend, the only thing I could turn to. 

Gahh I’m getting teary-eyed writing about this. But seriously. It makes me so happy to see that my posts also makes others happy. And honestly if people weren’t there I’d still be posting these because I think it’s the best show ever.

The Sailor Moon Dub gets a lot of bad publicity, and this Tumblr has been pretty negative about it too. But for many of us it’s a part of our childhood, so in the spirit of equality, I’m going to post some examples of Dub dialogue that I like - cute, funny, clever, etc. (There will probably be some mocking in there too, but I’ll try and keep it short.)

I’m only going to be doing the first two seasons because they’re the only DVDs I have; so does anyone have any requests/suggestions? What are your favourite scenes? Do any of you remember a line from the Dub that you really liked?
