Sailor Moon A to Z, MoTD Style: Jamanen

_{Jamanen’s theme and design was uncharacteristically unrelated to the episode’s plot of Petz and Calaveras corrupting a charm shop. She was a gelatinous, shape-shifting monster formed from a glass of wine, with a calm and serious disposition. Unlike many MoTD, she was perfectly content with the idea of dying for Calaveras, her master; her servitude, origin, and a conspicuous bow tie as her only real distinguishing feature all suggest her design might be based on a waiter or bartender.
Jamanen could sink into the floor, walls and ceiling, and used this ability to catch the Sailor Soldiers by surprise, then incapacitated them by trapping their limbs in goo. Though she never got to use it she could also transform one of her arms into a long blade. She was either immune to Petz’s electricity or content to withstand any pain it caused when Petz attacked Jupiter while she was holding her, but was damaged by Mars’s Burning Mandala. She was a highly competent monster and managed to subdue the other four Soldiers, but Sailor Moon arrived and inevitably destroyed her.

Sailor Moon A to Z, MoTD Style: Atsugessho

I’ve seen the “Sailor Moon A-Z” meme floating around Tumblr lately and I have shamelessly co-opted it for myself! But I decided to focus entirely on Monsters of The Day. Yes, I managed to find a monster for every letter! A couple of letters offered slim pickings, but most of them were chosen because they’re my personal favourites. I’ll also talk about each one at length, like so.

_{Working to corrupt a cosmetics store destined to be a future Crystal Point, Berthier hatched a plot to sell a new line of makeup that would make the wearer beautiful, but only for a short time – after that they would grow uglier and uglier until the area was contaminated with dark energy. Atsugessho, Berthier’s Droid, was positioned as a sales assistant. She insisted that all men only cared about looks, and that they would fall (back) in love with you if you made yourself prettier by wearing heavy makeup; when Usagi loudly disagreed, Atsugessho flipped out, scaring off the other customers and prompting her to attack Usagi.
Atsugessho means “thick makeup”. Her design was based on a perfume atomizer, carrying the pump attached to the back of her ‘hat’ under one arm. She attacked by squeezing the pump and loosing a jet of hot pink acid from her mouth. She also had an enormous powder puff she used to slam Luna into the wall, and could travel speedily by rolling on top of hairspray cans. It was implied that either Atsugessho’s face or whole body was composed entirely of makeup, with her eyes, nose, lips, etc. merely being painted on; when Tuxedo Mask used his cane to deflect her acid back onto her, all features but her mouth had melted off, and she died trying to hastily re-apply them with eyeliner.
