I never quite know where I stand with Alisa and whether I think she’s attractive or not. In the end, I think it depends on how she’s being “styled”. Her biggest asset in Japan would come from being half Caucasian, and so they often put her in makeup and hairstyles that put the focus on the features that make her look the most non-Japanese - her nose, eyes, lips, etc. In Japan, this would look “exotic”. Outside of Japan, where we’re used to those kinds of features, she actually ends up looking kind of… awkward. Disproportionate, kind of like (in my opinion) a baby duck. But then there are other photo shoots where they don’t go out of their way to draw all the attention to those features, and she looks beautiful!
Either way, my opinion is worth about a hill of beans. She’s definitely not ugly and she has a really fun personality that (given the right opportunity) shines through in her photos. She’s very talented, so I think I prefer her as an actress and singer to a model.
I hope she gets more work soon, though. :C

TL;DR: Alisa kind of gets the short end of the fandom stick so here’s a small appreciation post.

And here they are on the front cover together! (CANDy, January 2007.) Ayaka modeled ‘British’ fashion (which makes me think of Minako in England, which is amazing), and Alisa was in ‘American’ fashion.

Alisa and Ayaka modelling for the same photoshoot in the February 2005 magazine of the now-defunct magazine “CANDy”. Considering their characters’ dynamics in the show, I love that these two appeared so often in the same magazine, even sometimes in the same shoot. I know that Mio was Usagi’s rival more than Minako’s, but I wish that these two had been given more screen time together. It would have been good to have a little more “battle of the idols” beyond Mars Reiko.
