Hey, look! I said I would do something and then I delivered! (Well, more or less. I said I’d do 10, then 9, then 8. Here’s 7.)

Anyway, an exercise in pastiche; Sailor Moon, drawn in the same pose, but in different styles. I won’t say what they’re meant to be because if you can’t tell, I’ve done a bad job.
It was a lot of fun and really interesting! It’s a good exercise to get you thinking about your own style.

A friend and I were discussing Sailor Moon and had a dispute I was hoping you could settle. I said that every senshi has been drawn with their hair down except Makoto. She disagreed. Which is it and do you have any screen shots/pictures?

In episode 78, “VENUS Minako no NURSE Daisoudou” (“Venus Minako’s Nurse Mayhem”) (Dub episode 71, “No Thanks Nurse Venus”), Makoto is briefly shown at the start of the episode, talking to Rei on the phone. She’s in bed sick and her hair is down.

In the manga, the girls are often drawn with different hairstyles, usually in promotional/additional art. Here’s one example of manga!Makoto with her hair down (but not everyone’s is down):

I think Setsuna is the only Soldier I can think of whose hair is usually worn (partially) up but is never shown in a different style in the anime.

One side features a beautiful image of Sailor Moon as a Mermaid and the other features Chibi Chibi as a Mermaid. This bag was in out personal collection!

Ok, I’ve done six drawings of Sailor Moon in different artists’ styles. I would like to do at least eight (although it’s really hard for me not to just spill my beans and post them all now, haha). But I’m not really feeling any of the other suggestions. It’s hard to pick something that is different enough from the other styles I’ve drawn to be clearly distinguishable, without being so different it would stick out from the “set” and look weird.

So, basically, last chance for you to go back and answer this question about what kind of style you’d like to see!

and so Pluto just gets relegated to the same ranks as asteroids and dwarf planets and stars, like how many average kids know about those

and so you have all the other Sailor Soldiers living in Crystal Tokyo and walking around protecting the peace and the kids are whispering in hushed tones like “look there goes Sailor Mars!” or “I saw Sailor Mercury the other day”

and then they see Pluto and they’re like, “we don’t recognise you” she’s all like, “I’m Sailor Pluto”

Sailor Moon was the first lady superhero to whom I was exposed who kicked ass and fought for justice in an extremely feminine (non-hypersexual) way. Loved her. Still love her.
