Anonymous asked: I have a question about the Stars Arc of Sailor Moon (Manga). There when Usagi says goodbye to Mamoru (who is on his way to America via plane) Galaxia comes and kills him in front of her. She faints. Then when she wakes up she tells everyone that Mamoru did take a plane. Not only is she lying, she even believes it herself (as seen in some scenes when she thinks about him and wonders why he doesn´t call or write). My question is: why does she believe that? I mean she SAW how he died!!
… Because she’s deluding herself? Seriously, I’m not sure what else I have to describe? Her poor brain just witnessed the gory death of her boyfriend/fiance; it couldn’t cope, so believing that he had gone to America is a coping mechanism her brain constructed to stop her from having to face that pain. It’s especially inflamed by her having fainted immediately after, so she didn’t have to deal with it right at that moment.
Really, I mean… even in-series it’s shown to be something worrisome and strange? We’re meant to read it and think ‘This is kind of messed up’. Where’s the confusion?

In fact in my translations of SM she when really gets aware of Mamoru’s death, she remembers she “deleted that of her memory”. Good remembering :).
